The South African Radiobiology Society (SARS) is the professional association of scientists working in the field of radiation biology.  The aims of the society are to:
  • Advance the discipline of radiobiology by promoting learning, education and development programmes, and employment opportunities for radiobiologists.
  • Facilitate and develop research in the discipline and disseminate knowledge.
  • Encourage and facilitate collaboration and communication between radiobiologists and between those having an interest in radiobiology in South Africa and abroad.
  • Provide public comment on matters regarding the biological effects of radiation.
  • Support and advise other related disciplines including medical physics, radiation protection, radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation oncology in matters of radiobiology.
  • Develop and provide guidance on training and registration requirements of the Health Professions Council of South Africa for radiobiologists providing clinical service.
We are pleased to make use of the ZARadiobiology@googlegroups.com mailing list for the South African Radiobiology Society.  To be a member of the mailing list, contact ZARadiobiology@gmail.com . You can be part of the mailing list without having to join SARS, but we do encourage you to join our society by contacting the SAAPMB secretary.
